About me
Natasha Brathwaite
Hello, I’m Natasha. I’m a qualified counsellor and the founder of True Balance Pathways. My journey into counselling grew from both my professional experience in supporting people and my belief that we all deserve a safe space to pause, reflect, and find our way forward.
I understand how important it is to be truly heard. Many people come to counselling when life feels overwhelming or confusing, and my aim is to create a space where you feel accepted just as you are.

“Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life.” – Naeem Callaway
How I work
My training began in the person centred tradition, which values empathy, acceptance, and genuineness. Over time I have developed an integrative approach, which means I bring together different ways of working depending on what you need. This might involve reflecting on past experiences, exploring patterns in relationships, or working on practical ways to manage difficult emotions.
Counselling with me is always a collaborative process. We’ll explore together at your pace, and my role is to walk alongside you, not to tell you what to do. Sessions can be face to face or online, giving you the flexibility to choose what feels most comfortable.

My background
Whilst training as a counsellor, I worked in learning and development for over 18 years. Much of that work involved helping others to grow, adapt, and build confidence. That experience continues to shape my counselling practice today. I see the value in reflection, in listening carefully, and in creating opportunities for people to understand themselves more deeply.
I have also supported individuals in both voluntary and professional counselling settings, working with people who have faced trauma, loss, and life changes. These experiences have shaped the way I work with patience, empathy, and a genuine respect for each person’s story.
Counselling is not just something I offer to others, it is something I value for myself as well. Part of my journey is continuing to raise my own self-awareness and deepen my understanding of who I am. I believe that growth and change are lifelong, and that being open to reflection makes me a better counsellor and a more grounded person. Just as I encourage clients to explore their own pathways, I am also walking my own.
I believe counselling works best as a collaborative process. We will explore your thoughts and experiences together, at a pace that feels right for you.
Sessions are confidential and professional, and can be face to face or online depending on your preference. We will agree together how often to meet. For some people counselling is short term, while for others it becomes a longer journey.
Why True Balance Pathways?
The name True Balance Pathways reflects the heart of my work. Life can sometimes feel out of balance, or as though we have lost sight of our direction. Counselling offers a chance to steady yourself, reconnect with what matters to you, and begin to move forward again.
My aim is to support you on that journey, wherever you are starting from.
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” – Carl Rogers
