Finding space in a full month

December, 2025

When December feels full

December often arrives with a certain volume to it. For some people it feels busy and social. For others it brings up memories, expectations or a quiet heaviness in the background. Most of us end up carrying a mixture of both. It is a month that asks us to keep going while also showing us where we feel stretched, tired or reflective.

What the end of the year brings up

As the year comes to a close, many of us notice changes in how we feel and what we are carrying. There is the practical busyness, yes, but there is also the emotional kind – the parts of us that kept going through uncertainty, change, pressure or the needs of others.

December has a way of bringing this to the surface. Some days feel spacious. Other days feel like everything lands at once. And often, there is no neat explanation. Many people notice changes in their internal pace at this time of year, especially when the body starts to catch up with everything it has held. Our minds and bodies simply reach a point where they begin asking for a different pace.

The value of slowing your pace

This is usually the time of year when we try to do more. More giving, more planning, more showing up.

But what if the most generous thing we offered ourselves this month was pace?

A moment to pause.
A moment to recognise that it has been a lot, and that you need some space for yourself.

Slowing down does not have to mean stopping. Sometimes it is choosing one thing at a time and letting that be enough. Sometimes it is allowing yourself to protect the small pockets of quiet that give you room to settle.

Paying attention to what you need

As we move through the weeks ahead, you might notice what supports you and what drains you. You might notice where your boundaries soften and where they need strengthening. You might even notice how much you have grown in ways that were not obvious in the moment.

If anything in this season feels overwhelming or emotionally loud, take it as information rather than a flaw. Your body and mind are communicating with you.
